The Reclusiarch’s Faith

Reclusiarch Illinecht strode through the catacombs housing the sarcophagus’ of the crusade’s ancients; it helped quiet his mind.

He would never countenance the suggestion that his faith was shaken but he knows that he is restless. Since the opening of the Great Rift the Materium has been in turmoil beyond the violence and hate that had previously shaped it for millenia, from the initial loss of the Emperor’s light which left mankind cold and imperilled travellers , the plague of witches in the aftermath which destroyed worlds and seeded heresy, and the emboldening of the enemies of mankind. Being a veteran of the Eternal Crusade engaged in the Eastern Fringe expanding and fortifying the borders of Imperium the enemies-without do not trouble him; his concerns are the changes within.

The awakening of a son of the God Emperor should have lifted his soul but it is leden. Many great victories have been won for the Imperium but through the upheaval of the Adeptus Astartes. Gulliman has introduced the Primaris Astartes a new breed of warrior to bathe the galaxy in the Emperor’s light, outfitted with some of the finest arms and armaments the devotees of Ominissah can craft, this should buoy his soul but instead it brings disquiet.

Illinecht remembers the history of his legion and certain parallels trouble him.
Gulliman set himself at the head of Imperium Secundus when his link to Terra was disrupted during the great heresy making himself an empire beyond even his fiefdom of Ultramar, he once again sits at the head of imperium. Following the great heresy he reformed the Adeptus Astartes breaking the Legions, the great bulwark of mankind leaving scattered chapters in their wake built in his Legions image declaring our Gene-Father a traitor when he spoke against it. Once again he is breaking the Astartes to his mould.

As if this alone is not enough to breed distrust, word of how he has reached his plateau has peppered through the galaxy. Belisarius Cawl, an Archmagos of questionable repute distrusted by even the strange devotees of the Omnissiah, orchestrates his technological and biological advances with practices questioned as techno-heresy. Yvraine, a Xenos witch who marches through-out the galaxy uniting disparate Aeldari attempting to awaken a Xeno-God to try to take the galaxy from our rightful hands, was instrumental to his re-birth.

Despite this the High Marshall allegedly considers these new warriors a gift of God-Emperor.

Being deep within Imperium Nihilus makes reinforcement difficult, the stubbornness of a Son of Dorn makes change even harder.

For now the radiance of faith from the slumbering ancients of the crusade envelopes Illinecht, the Imperium may change his faith will not. Chaplains of the 13th Legion may wear black, but none Illinecht have met would be fit to wear the cross of even a Neophyte. For now Sigismunds Grace will resist Gullimans toy soldiers. Mankind is fallible, the God-Emperor is not. The Imperium may change, his faith will not.
